Major Overview
The Computer Science and Technology major at East China University of Science and Technology is a broad-gauge major. It takes the information discipline as the platform, focuses on cultivating students' computer innovation ability, is oriented towards systems while also taking applications into account, realizes the combination of software and hardware, and gives equal emphasis to science and engineering. This major was one of the first batch of national first-class undergraduate major construction sites in 2019. It has strong faculty, high teaching level, has passed the national engineering education professional certification many times, undertaken many national and provincial teaching reform projects, received numerous teaching achievement awards, and has abundant scientific research achievements, forming research characteristics in many fields. The trained students are welcomed by employers due to their advantages such as solid basic theory, complete knowledge structure, strong practical operation and communication ability, high employment rate and good employment quality. Students also have outstanding performance in competitions. The major is committed to cultivating high-level specialized talents in computer science and technology who are well-rounded in morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics and labor, abide by laws and regulations, have good moral cultivation and social environmental awareness, master the corresponding basic knowledge and professional skills, can solve complex engineering problems, have engineering practice ability, communication and foreign language application ability, innovation awareness, team cooperation spirit and international vision, and can adapt to the development of science and technology and social needs. After graduation, students can engage in work in many fields of this industry and continue to further their studies. And for graduates with more than five years of experience, corresponding ability requirements are set to make them competitive in the computer field.
Major Highlight
The major of Computer Science and Technology in East China University of Science and Technology is a wide caliber major based on the platform of information discipline, focusing on the cultivation of computer innovation ability, system-oriented, application, software and hardware, and paying equal attention to computer science and computer engineering. This major has been selected as the first batch of national first-class undergraduate major construction sites in 2019. Professional teachers strength, high teaching level, pay attention to education content and method reform, in 2009 passed the national engineering education professional certification, in 2012 passed the national engineering education professional certification to extend the validity of the application, in 2015 passed the second round of engineering education professional certification, in 2019 passed the third round of engineering education professional certification. He has undertaken a number of national and provincial and ministerial educational reform projects, presided over 1 national bilingual demonstration course, 2 excellent quality courses of the Ministry of Education, and 5 excellent quality courses of Shanghai. He has won 2 second prizes of national teaching achievements, and many special prizes, first prizes and second prizes of Shanghai Teaching Achievements. Over the years, it has been undertaking national projects and projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Key RESEARCH and Development Program. It has won a number of science and technology awards from the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipality. It has formed its own research characteristics in the fields of artificial intelligence, software engineering, cloud computing and big data. The students trained in this major are welcomed by the employers with their characteristics of "solid basic theory, complete knowledge structure, strong practical operation ability and communication ability, rich experience in application design and development, and strong ability to accept new knowledge". The employment rate is high, the employment quality ranks the forefront of similar disciplines in Shanghai, and it has been rated as "Advanced Collective in Employment" for many times. Students have made outstanding achievements in various international and domestic competitions, and they have been shortlisted in the international finals of ACM Programming Competition for three times.
Educational Objectives
The objective of Computer Science and Technology is to cultivate professionals with a solid foundation and a wide range of knowledge, good physical and mental conditions and intelligent quality, to meet the requirement of the development of computer science and technology, and possess the research and innovation abilities and the desire for international competition. Students should be proficient in the field of Computer Science and Computer Engineering. Moreover, the proficiency in engineering practice and the ability in development of hardware and software are also obligations. Students should be capable to apply fundamental knowledge of computer science and engineering in creative manners to solve the practical problems in the industry, together with sufficient cross-cultural knowledge and eligible international communication skills.
The graduates of computer science and technology are versatile to deal with a variety of professional experiences and have the capability of lifelong learning.

Entry Requirements
- 1 . Chinese-taught Programs: Minimum HSK 4 score required (190+ for science and engineering majors; 210+ for humanities and business majors; minimum 60 in writing). Applicants with degrees from previous Chinese-taught programs are exempt from HSK requirements.
- 2 . Applicants without language scores may submit provisional applications but must provide proof of English proficiency to receive the final admission offer.
- 3 . Completion of high school with a diploma or higher academic qualification.
- 4 . No criminal record and good physical and mental health.
- 5 . Minimum age of 16; applicants under 18 must provide a letter of guarantee from a legally recognized adult guardian residing in China.

1. Submit application online.
Visit ECUST online application system, register, and submit application documents according to the system prompts. Each applicant applies only once, do not make duplicate applications.
2. Pay the application fee of 600 CNY.
If you are unable to pay online, please transfer the application fee to ECUST official bank account and send the remittance receipt to cie@ecust.edu.cn.
* The application is invalid if the application fee has not been paid. Once paid, the application fee will not be refunded.
