On March 29, international students from ECUST’s College of International Education had an exclusive, behind-the-scenes experience of Chinese professional football with visits to Shanghai Stadium and the Shanghai Shenhua Training Base.

Shanghai Stadium: The Heart of Football in Shanghai

The tour began at the iconic Shanghai Stadium, where students explored the 50,000-seat arena. Walking through the locker rooms, passing the players’ tunnel, and standing on the immaculate pitch, they gained a unique perspective of what it feels like to be a professional footballer.

Shanghai Shenhua Training Base: The Cradle of Champions

At the Shenhua Training Base, students observed youth academy training sessions and toured the club’s world-class facilities. For many international students, witnessing China’s football development up close was eye-opening.

During the visit, students had the rare chance to step onto the training field and practice football in the same environment where professional players train and develop their skills. Many were amazed by the feeling of running on a pitch that has nurtured numerous champions.

The visit to Shanghai Stadium and the Shenhua Training Base provided an immersive experience into Shanghai’s unique sporting culture.
