In late April, nearly 100 international students from 22 countries—including Russia, Sweden, Singapore, Indonesia, and Pakistan—joined an unforgettable study tour in Chongqing, organized by ECUST’s College of International Education.

Themed “Journey through Bashan Yushui: Tracing Urban Memories,” the trip combined history, culture, ecology, and urban planning. Students visited iconic sites such as Jiefangbei (People’s Liberation Monument), Shibati (Eighteen Stairs), and Hongyadong, where they explored the renewal of old city districts and the vibrant night economy. At the 816 Nuclear Engineering Site, they learned about China’s industrial heritage and the spirit of dedication and innovation. In the Wuling Mountain Rift Valley, international students studied karst landforms and local sustainable tourism practices.

The visiting group also experienced the UNESCO World Heritage Site the Dazu Rock Carvings, the ancient town of Changzhou, and the smart mountain-city transport at Liziba Light Rail Station. A visit to the Chongqing Planning Exhibition Hall offered insights into the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone.

This hands-on study tour is part of ECUST’s broader efforts to help international students truly understand China. By blending classroom learning with real-world experiences, the university is building a bridge of cross-cultural friendship and global understanding. For international students seeking adventure, learning, and meaningful connections, ECUST offers experiences that go far beyond the campus.
