On July 20, 2026, ECUST welcomed 110 high school students from the United Arab Emirates for a campus visit themed “AI, Culture & Tomorrow.” Hosted by the College of International Education (CIE), the program seamlessly integrated interactive AI sessions with traditional Chinese cultural experiences.
During the AI introduction, Professor Zhou Jiale presented embodied intelligence and robotic systems, explaining how AI perceives, decides, and controls physical environments. The students actively engaged in Q&A, demonstrating strong curiosity about the technology. Guided by student leaders, visitors then explored hands-on demonstrations of quadruped robots (Expedition A2 and Lynx), snake-like robots for complex environments, and digital microfluidic devices for biomedical applications. The interactive sessions sparked enthusiastic discussions on future technological possibilities.
In the afternoon, CIE Program Manager Ms. Shi Xiaoman introduced ECUST’s academic programs, campus life, and development prospects. Outstanding student representative Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Abdulla Hamad Aluaimi shared his personal journey, covering academic preparation, university support, and the welcoming campus environment. The Emirati students asked detailed questions about learning Chinese and living in China, reflecting their keen interest in studying at ECUST.
A highlight of the visit was a performance by ECUST’s Dragon and Lion Dance Team. Performers coached the students in dragon dance teamwork and lion dance leaps, creating an immersive cultural experience. The students participated energetically and expressed great enthusiasm for the activity.
The accompanying UAE teacher praised the event: “Thank you, ECUST, for organizing these wonderful activities and for the staff’s hard work! Your event was the most exciting and fantastic among all the universities we visited, and I believe it left a very deep impression on our students.” The guest also expressed a strong desire for deeper future cooperation with ECUST.
