On June 30, the 2026 Class International Students’ Graduation Farewell Ceremony was successfully held at the Yifu Building Lecture Hall on the Xuhui Campus of ECUST.
The event was attended by Li Yongsheng, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; Li Xiaopeng, Dean of the College of International Education; Wan Yinjie, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee; and Xu Zhenliang, Professor and mentor representative from the School of Chemical Engineering. The ceremony was hosted by Shi Xiaoman from the College of International Education. Over a hundred teachers, students, and family members gathered to witness this precious moment.

Dean Li Xiaopeng extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduates. Noting that this year marks his own 20th graduation anniversary from ECUST, he encouraged the graduates to cherish their campus memories and serve as friendly ambassadors for communication between China and other countries.

Professor Xu Zhenliang drew on the concept of “selectivity” from functional membrane research to advise graduates to stay true to their original aspirations and strive for excellence. Five international students were honored as "Outstanding Graduates" for their academic excellence. Director Li Yongsheng presented them with certificates, while Deputy Director Wan Yinjie and Dean Li Xiaopeng presented customized English graduation scrolls to undergraduate, master's, and doctoral graduates.

Doctoral graduate Dibakar Pandaya (Nepal) reflected on his years of research at ECUST. He sincerely thanked the university for its comprehensive support in both living arrangements and academic development, stating that ECUST and Shanghai have become his second home. He promised to carry the warmth of his alma mater forward as he embarks on a new journey.

Master's graduate Carla Martine Ruiz (France) shared her motivation for choosing Shanghai—to seize opportunities in Asia. She expressed her heartfelt intention to remain rooted in China after graduation, returning to Shanghai for employment and launching a new chapter of her professional career.

Bachelor's graduate Charlize Pai (Indonesia) recounted overcoming challenges of online learning and cultural adaptation during her four years at ECUST. Majoring in Visual Communication Design, she pledged to leverage her cross-cultural experiences to build a youthful bridge for greater mutual understanding between China and Indonesia.

This ceremony marks a perfect conclusion to the Class of 2026's campus journey. May they set forth boldly toward the mountains and seas, writing new chapters of their lives across the globe!
