Recently, the College of International Education organized a visit to Jiaxing, Zhejiang, for 46 international students from 21 countries, including the UAE, Russia, Georgia, Spain, and Indonesia. The students spent a day exploring Satellite Chemical Co., Ltd. and the Yuehe Historic District, blending professional learning with cultural immersion.
Established in 2005, Satellite Chemical is a leader in China’s acrylic acid industry. The company focuses on green, low-carbon integrated industrial chains, specializing in hydrogen energy and carbon dioxide utilization to serve the aerospace, electronics, and healthcare sectors.

Upon arrival, the students toured Satellite Chemical’s exhibition hall, where students learned about the journey from a local firm to a global leader in high-end materials.
The guide highlighted various application scenarios for the company’s products as students expressed fascination at how these “invisible yet tangible” materials play a critical role in daily life.

Following the tour, company representatives provided an overview of the firm’s global footprint and its international initiatives. After this interactive session, students presented their questions regarding internship opportunities and career advancement. Many students noted that the visit provided a valuable roadmap for their future career planning.

In the afternoon, faculty and students moved on to the Yuehe Historic District in Jiaxing where they experienced the vibrant heritage of a Jiangnan water town. A beautiful contrast to the modern industrial precision they witnessed earlier.
This activity is a key component of the “Second Classroom Activities” for Joint Multi-Degree Programs. It is specifically under the module of Corporate Networking & Career Development, which aims to help students gain a realistic understanding of China's leading industries and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industrial demand. In the future, JMD students will have more chances to have immersive field visits to Shanghai and surrounding cities, clarifying their career goals through direct engagement with diverse enterprises.
