On March 25, international students from more than ten countries, led by their teachers, visited the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum for an engaging study tour themed “Perceiving China: Tech Innovation in Shanghai.”
The interactive installations in the “Light of Wisdom” zone became the most vibrant classroom. As students turned dials, the light and shadows on the screens shifted accordingly. It sparks students’ curiosity, nurtures hands-on skills, and deepens their understanding of scientific methods and logical thinking.

At the “Shared Planet” zone, with a light touch of their fingertips, different ecosystems unfolded before their eyes — from tropical rainforests to polar tundra, from grasslands and deserts to the depths of the ocean.

A timeline wall, engraved in the “Amazing Me” exhibition area with medical developments from 1901 to the present, became a focal point where students paused to gaze. From black-and-white photographs to written annotations, they traced the historical path, reflecting on the century-long journey of human’s fight against disease and its efforts to safeguard health.

Shanghai is not only the core engine of China’s technological innovation but also a place that cultivates global learners with curiosity, a spirit of collaboration, and mutual understanding. By inviting young minds from around the world, the city invites them to witness its technological progress. In the future, ECUST will continue to provide students with rich practical activities to help them experience, perceive and understand China.
