2025 Macao & Tin Ka Ping Foundation STEM Summer Camp Opens at ECUST
08 Sep 2025

On August 1, the 2025 Macao & Tin Ka Ping Foundation STEM Summer Camp officially commenced at ECUST. Co-organized by the Ministry of Education’s Office of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs, the Macao SAR Government’s Education and Youth Development Bureau, and the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, the camp brought together 55 outstanding high school students from Macao and 120 peers from 11 central and western Chinese provinces, including Chongqing, Gansu, and Xinjiang.

Distinguished attendees included Yu Bin, Deputy Director-General of the Ministry’s Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office, Dai Dawei, Secretary-General of Tin Ka Ping Foundation. ECUST Vice President Yan Haifeng, and deans from the School of Pharmacy, School of Information Science and Engineering, and School of Mathematics also attended this ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Li Xiaopeng, Dean of the College of International Education.

Vice President Yan Haifeng highlighted the camp’s focus on information engineering, biotechnology, and mathematical sciences, blending theory, hands-on experiments, and innovation challenges. He urged students to "collaborate across disciplines, integrate knowledge with practice, and align personal aspirations with national development."

Yu Bin emphasized the camp’s role in nurturing scientific patriotism, while Dai Dawei noted the Foundation’s commitment since 2019 to bridging educational gaps through STEM initiatives.

Macao’s Hu Juntao from Keng Ping Secondary School and Sichuan’s Genqiuzhima from Ganzi No.2 Middle School spoke as student representatives. Then, faculty leaders from each college introduced three project-based learning tracks, including Biotech, Mathematical Sciences and Information Engineering.

Year 2025 marks ECUST’s third consecutive year hosting the Macao & Tin Ka Ping Foundation STEM Summer Camp, reinforcing its mission to advance cross-regional STEM education and support national talent development goals.
